GALLOWAY, OH (WCMH) — Columbus police are searching for suspects who broke into a home and robbed the residents while wearing clown masks.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, at about 2 a.m., Wednesday, three men wearing clown masks and dressed in black, entered a home in the 500 block of Rocket Street in Galloway and restrained the man and woman in the home.

The victims were then forced to stay in the bathroom with their faces to the floor.

Police say the suspects then ransacked the home and stole jewelry, electronic items and cash.

When the suspects left, the victims freed themselves and ran for help.

Jacob Gahn lives across the street.

He says he had just let his dog outside to use the bathroom a few minutes before the robbery occurred, and didn’t see or hear anything.

Gahn says he will be locking up his house extra tight from now on.

“I replaced the screws in my front door with 4-inch screws in the deadbolt so if someone tries to kick in the door it makes it a lot tougher to do so,” said Gahn.

Investigators say the couple was not hurt. They are actively looking for the three suspects.

Anyone with information on the suspects can call the Columbus Police Robbery Unit at 614-645-4665 or Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-645-4749.
