74-year-old Columbus man robbed at gunpoint in his own home

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – Police are looking for information about a man who robbed a 74-year-old man at gunpoint in west Columbus.

It happened around 9:30am Sunday at a home in the 200 block of Lechner Avenue.

According to Columbus police, a man stopped by the home and asked the resident if he could make change for a $10 bill. The resident said that he could, then turned to get his wallet.

At that point, police say the suspect walked in the home, pulled a handgun and pointed it at the victim.

The victim and suspect fought over the gun and two shots were fired.

Police say the suspect took the walled and left in a silver sedan with a possible temporary license plate on the back.

No injuries were reported.

Police described the suspect as a black male in his 40s standing between 5’8” and 5’9” with a stocky build.

He was wearing a white t-shirt with a gray thermal underneath, black pants and black shoes.
