Squirrel killed after second attacking on residents at retirement community

DELTONA, FL (WESH) A squirrel is dead following the second attack in less than a week reported at a Deltona, Florida retirement community.

A resident at Sterling Court was attacked by the animal sometime Monday morning, and a staffer shot and killed the squirrel with a BB gun.

The first attack, last Thursday, left two residents and a staff member with serious bites.

Audio from a 911 call during the first incident indicated that the squirrel was jumping on people, biting and scratching them. The animal was tossed outside and escaped after the first incident.

It’s unclear whether the squirrel killed Monday was the same squirrel from last week’s attack.
