OSU’s Weber eager to create own legacy at OSU

OSU Running Back Mike Weber

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Through 9 games this season he’s rushed for 842 yards. Math will tell you that’s nearly 100 yards per game, to go with 7 touchdowns. Pretty good season.

It’s just that Mike Weber is trying to replace a modern legend as the running back at Ohio State.

Head Coach Urban Meyer says he uses Ezekiel Elliott as steady motivation for Weber as the Bucks’ freshman running back continues to grow into his role. Meyer says Weber’s become a better blocker in addition to a tough runner. Weber’s been nursing a shoulder injury which has kept him out of contact in practice this week but he will play Saturday at Maryland. Weber says he doesn’t mind the motivation, but he’s eager to carve his own place in OSU history.

Meyer also says Curtis Samuel will get the first chance to return punts at Maryland as the Bucks attempt to jump start their stagnant return game.
