Stuntmen drown during action-movie scene

INDIA (NBC News) — Police said the two men, who didn’t know how to swim, drowned after jumping into a lake from a helicopter during a scene in an action movie that was being filmed in India.

The crew was shooting the climax to a movie, Tuesday, in India, when the two men jumped into the water as part of an action sequence.

According to police, the two men were not wearing life vests and didn’t know how to swim, but a motorboat was supposed to rush to them after the jumped. However, the boat stopped working and rescuers were unable to get to the stuntmen.

Local fisherman in small boats rowed to the middle of the lake, but found no trace of the men.

Police said they have registered a case of criminal negligence against the film’s director and producers.
