Students hold parade for 1st grader with cancer

JACKSON, MS (WJTV) — The schoolmates of a Mississippi1st grader living with cancer held a parade in his honor.

Students at John Hopkins Elementary are celebrating Aiden Johnson. He was diagnosed in 2012 with cancer behind his right eye.

Aiden went through surgeries and eventually went into remission.

“For them to do this and make him feel a part of and actually let him be a part of the school family it’s amazing,” said Deidra Johnson, his mother. “It’s amazing to know that not only do you have your family, your church family, you actually have the school, the support of the school, the principal the teachers.”

The school raised money for the family as well. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
