Knox County crash kills 79-year-old man

MORGAN TOWNSHIP, OH (WCMH) – The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-vehicle crash that killed a 79-year-old man Friday morning.

It happened around 8:40am on State Route 13 at County Road 29 in Morgan Township, Knox County.

According to investigators, Donald M. Baker, 79, of Mount Vernon was in a 1996 Ford Ranger Pickup truck when he slowed to make a left turn onto County Road 29.

A car driven by Cameron Lawrence, 21, of Heath, hit Baker’s truck from behind as he slowed down, investigators said.

Baker’s truck was pushed into the opposing lane of traffic and was hit again by a car driven by 22-year-old Allison M. Ruhl, 22, of Mount Vernon.

Baker was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead.

Ruhl was taken to Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center in stable condition. Lawrence was treated at the scene and released.

Troopers said Baker was not wearing a seatbelt. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
