Murder, hotel barricade suspect given $2.5 million bond

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — The murder suspect who police said barricaded himself in a north side hotel room for several hours on Thursday morning, appeared in a Franklin County courtroom.

Deanthoni Truss is charged with one count of murder and two counts of felonious assault, stemming from a June shooting, at an east side Quick Stop.

Tommie Brown, 21, was killed in the altercation and two other men were injured.

On Thursday, the U.S. Marshall’s Service tracked Truss to the Sheraton Suites, near U.S. 23 and I-270.

Police said several shots were fired during the four-hour barricade situation.

The Columbus SWAT Team arrested Truss, with no major injuries to anyone.

Truss has yet to be charged for his involvement in the standoff.

He is being held in jail on a $2.5 million dollar bond, for the charges related to the murder. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
