Woman in critical condition after north Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A woman is in the hospital after an early morning shooting in north Columbus.

The shooting happened around 1:30am at Winthrop Court Apartments on the 5900 block of Brady Drive. According to Columbus Police, a man called 911 saying his girlfriend had been shot.

When police arrived, they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the thigh. Officers say she was unable to tell them what exactly had happened. The woman was taken to Grant Medical Center in critical condition where she underwent emergency surgery.

Police have taken the woman’s boyfriend into custody as a suspect in the shooting. The domestic violence unit and the assault squad are investigating.
