Toys R Us recalls Tonka trucks after one reportedly catches fire

SEATTLE, WA (NBC News) — A hot holiday toy may be to blame for a truck fire in Washington State, prompting a recall by Toys R Us.

Some grandparents scored the Tonka Truck from Toys R Us as a Christmas present for their grandson Friday night.

But as they were headed home, the truck apparently burst into flames.

Toys R Us apologized and issued a refund to the family, and has since issued a recall.

In a statement Toys R Us said:

Although this appears to be an isolated incident, out of an abundance of caution we are implementing a stop-sale and pulling the item from our stores and pending further investigation. In the meantime, we are working closely with Dynacraft, the manufacturer, to determine the cause.” provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
