COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Bright and early Tuesday morning, Columbus police officers arrived at Daly Schaeffer’s home.
Eight Year old Daly loves police officers, and everything about them. So to ride in a cruiser is a dream come true.
“Well I’ve had the dream since I was like 2,” Daly said.
He’s been dressing up as an officer since then too.
“He’d spend many days playing police officer keeping us safe at home,” said Daly’s mom Heidi Schaeffer.
Daly’s mom Heidi entered him in cpd’s cutest cop costume contest last month.
“She got this email that’s like dear Ms. Schaefer, your son has won a trip to school in a police car,” Daly said.
“This is what he has always dreamed of,” Heidi said. “He asked if he can go in a police car someday and I said I hope not — I don’t want you to go in a police car.”
So, along with his sister Hannah, Daly hitched a ride to school, making quite an entrance. Daly scored pictures with officers and his buddies, and high fives all around.
The best part though, Daly is part of the brotherhood.
