COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A man who was involved in a SWAT standoff that shut down I-270 last week has been indicted for aggravated murder and felonious assault.
Deanthoni Santwan Truss, 22, is accused of killing 21-year-old Tommie Brown on June 8 at the Quick Stop Convenience Store at 2276 East Fifth Avenue. He is also accused of injuring two other people in the shooting.
Prosecutor Ron O’Brien said, “This man opened fire in a convenience store filled with numerous patrons, killing one and injuring two others before he fled the scene.”
Truss is also accused of shooting at three police officers during a barricade situation at the Sheraton at 201 Hutchinson Avenue on November 17.

The Sheraton Suites Hotel sits along I-270 on the north side of Columbus. After gunfire erupted between Truss and the officers, police closed down all westbound lanes of the freeway closest to the hotel. A hotel window on the second floor shows evidence of what looks like at least a dozen gunshots.
After several hours of negotiations between Truss and SWAT, the standoff ended peacefully. Despite all the gunfire, no one was hurt.
