TAMPA, FL (WFLA) — If you plan on heading out to score some holiday deals right after cutting your Thanksgiving pumpkin pie, you might find some of your favorite stores are closed.

After opening their doors in years past on Turkey Day, a growing number of stores are deciding to stay locked up until Black Friday.

According to BestBlackFriday.com, dozens of national retailers are deciding to stay closed on Turkey Day, including popular stops like Costco, Dillards, Home Depot and IKEA.

National retailer Petco will also be closed on Thanksgiving this year.

“We believe in putting our partners and their families first and it’s a great thing to do leading into our busy holiday time of year,” said Petco’s Steve Bredt.

Bredt insists those deals will still be there a day later and encourages folks to spend time with the people they love at home and not in store aisles.
