Two people injured in west Columbus apartment fire

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Columbus firefighters were called to a fire just west of Columbus at an apartment complex, early Monday morning.

The fire started around 3:00am at the Galloway Village Apartments on Sturbridge Road, with multiple crews being called in to assist the effort.

“I grabbed the phone and called 911. I don’t even think I finished the call. I just called in the fire at 66 Sturbridge Road and got out,” said Marcus Amspaugh.

Officials say two people were transported to a local hospital in stable condition.

“They had opened the door and that’s all I smelled was smoke. It was just a big black cloud. It just started coming from underneath the door and there was no way we could go through the hallway,” said Chelsea Price, who had to jump out of a second story window to escape the fire.

Red Cross was called in to help the victims of the fire as the investigation continues.
