One person killed in wrong-way crash south of Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– The Columbus Police Department is investigating after one person was killed in a car wreck on U.S. 23 early Monday morning.

According to the Columbus Division of Police, Bonita K. Allen, 60, was driving at 2004 Toyota Corolla southbound in the northbound lanes of U.S. 23 near Rowe Road at about 2:59am, Monday, and struck a 2015 Jeep Cherokee being driven by Kourtney Luster, 18, head-on.

Luster’s Cherokee then spun and hit a 2008 Toyota Yaris being driven by Chad Ryan, 45.

Allen was pronounced dead at the scene.

Luster, Ryan and Carlee King, 20, who was a passenger in the Cherokee, were all hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.

Police continue to investigate and this is the city’s 55 traffic fatality of the year.
