LOS ANGELES, CA (WCMH) — One Los Angeles woman is at a loss of what to do after a stranger caused several thousand dollars of damage to her car during an hours-long vandalism spree.
Security cameras captured a woman jumping and sliding around on the car and scratching illegible markings into the paint.
“I just broke down and just cried, like it can’t be true,” Stacy Omelianoff told KCAL. “And now I’m out of a car, period.”
To make matters worse, Omelianoff just lost her job and only has liability insurance.
The unidentified woman began her attack at 3am, using a windshield wiper, pipe and a piece of wood to scratch the paint. She also tore the gas cap and grill off and flattened a tire.
Omelianoff says that even though the damage is extensive, she is more upset because there were people who saw the vandalism happening but didn’t do anything about it.
“They would come by, stop, back up, take pictures, video, and just take off,” Omelianoff said.
It wasn’t until 9am that a business owner who saw the woman vandalizing the vehicle called the police. The woman was then taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department. She is on a 72-hour psychiatric hold.
“I’m angry, I’m hurt, frustrated, and at the same time I understand that she has a mental problem, Omelianoff said.
