The sheriff’s office was called to a dollar store on Monday after a beaver got in and started damaging some merchandise.

The mammal may have just been shopping for a good bargain, but photos show it made a bit of a mess in the process.

The sheriff’s office said it “attempted to flee the area,” but animal control arrived and safely captured the beaver before releasing it to a wildlife rehabilitator.

“As a law enforcement officer, you just never know what your next call may be…” the sheriff’s office wrote on Facebook. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
