Hunter punches kangaroo to save dog’s life

AUSTRALIA (NBC NEWS) – A man’s close-quarters encounter with a kangaroo in the Australian outback is going viral.

Video released by Greg Bloom shows the incredible man vs. kangaroo showdown from this past June.

According to Bloom’s write-up on Viral Hog’s YouTube video, a group of hunters got together to help a young cancer patient with his last wish of going boar hunting in the outback. One of their dogs got in a tussle with a very large male kangaroo, also called a buck.

The kangaroo had a strong grip on the dog’s protective gear, practically holding it in a headlock.

One of the hunting party members, identified as Greg, jumped from the vehicle and raced toward the dog and kangaroo.

The dog wriggles free of the buck, just as the large animal turns his attention to the hunter.

After sizing each other briefly, the man throws a right hook, landing squarely on the kangaroo’s jaw.

After rearing back from the impact, the buck stares at the man as the hunter calls for the dogs to get back on the truck.

A few more stunned moments later, the kangaroo decides to hop off into the brush.

The dog wasn’t hurt.
