OSU commit Kaleb Wesson powers Westerville South to a road win over Gahanna

The Ohio State University men’s head basketball coach Thad Matta attended a highly competitive early season high school basketball game as the defending Division I State Champions, Westerville South, played on the road at Gahanna in a rematch of last year’s Division I regional final.

Matta, Assistant Coach Greg Paulus, and Ohio State freshman forward Andre Wesson watched as 2017 Buckeye commit Kaleb Wesson scored 27 points, and added 10 rebounds to help power the Wildcats to a 58-53 victory over the Lions. The Ohio State coaches were also watching Gahanna’s Jordan Mitchell, a 2019 prospect for the Buckeyes. Mitchell scored 10 points and 4 rebounds.

With the win, Westerville South will face Olentangy Friday, while Gahanna heads to Reynoldsburg to take on the Raiders.
