Sofia Vergara sued on behalf of her own embryos

BATON ROUGE, LA (NBC News) — The Right-to-Life lawsuit, filed against “Modern Family” start Sofia Vergara lists her own embryos as the defendants.

The lawsuit, filed in Louisiana, claims that Vergara’s embryos “Emma” and “Isabella” are being deprived of their future inheritance by not being born.

Louisiana is a traditionally pro-life state with special protection for frozen embryos.

This is the latest in a bitter custody battle between the actress and her ex-fiancé Nick Loeb.

Legal experts say that this is Loeb’s last legal option in the embryo custody battle, after his similar lawsuit in California was dismissed. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
