Fire breaks out at Hoffman’s Florist and Greenhouse

COLUMBUS (WCMH)– Firefighters battled flames at a Hilliard business for several hours Friday morning.

The fire broke out shortly after midnight Friday in the 800 block of Hilliard Rome Road.

Columbus Police say the location is Hoffman’s Florist and Greenhouse. The owners, who live nearby, reported the fire.

The building was completely engulfed in flames.

After arriving on scene, firefighters began to fight the flames defensively, and let the fire come through the roof so they could attack it with the aerial ladders.

Authorities say they are not sure what caused the fire to start, but both the indoor and outdoor parts of the business have seen heavy damage.

According to their website, Hoffman’s opened in 1962. There are no injuries reported, and all goats at the business were taken out okay.

“We’ll be taking orders and trying to fill as many orders as we can. We’ll be doing church flowers that we have orders for. We just need a few days to get back on our feet,” said Carol Hoffman, Co-owner.
