Grandmother, granddaughter die in Miami County crash

TROY CITY, OH (WDTN) — Two people are dead following a two-car crash near Troy.

It happened around 11 a.m. Sunday on Nashville Road.

Authorities say a black vehicle was heading north when it went left of center and collided with a southbound mini-van.

First responders arrived and found the two occupants of the black vehicle deceased.

The Miami County Sheriff’s office have identified the victims as 69-year-old Lois Ellis of Vandalia and 12-year-old Gabrielle Ellis of Union.

Deputies say the crash was witnessed by family members who were traveling in front of the victims on their way to a wrestling meet in Piqua.

The driver of the van was taken to Miami Valley Hospital with minor injuries.

Nashville Road was closed for several hours as deputies cleared the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
