Stark County Chief Deputy killed in accidental shooting

STARK COUNTY, OH (WCMH) – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of its own Chief Deputy in a shooting that is being called accidental.

According to WKYC, it happened around 10am Sunday.

The Sheriff’s office said a shot was fired inside Chief Deputy John Campbell’s home in Canton. The bullet traveled through a wall and struck Campbell, killing him.

Campbell has been with the Sheriff’s office since 2015.
