COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus area Walmart and Target stores are expecting new shipments of Hatchimals, this year’s hot Christmas toy.

Walmart says the toys will arrive between Dec. 8 and Dec. 19. Customers should check with their local stores to see when shipments will arrive. Walmart has not announced limits on the number of Hatchimals each customer can purchase. The toys will be on sale for $48.88.

The following Walmart stores are expected to receive the toy:

  • Chillicothe
  • Circleville
  • Grove city
  • Heath
  • Lancaster
  • Lewis center
  • Reynoldsburg
  • Washington Court House

Target says stores will begin receiving Hatchimals on Sunday, Dec.11, with inventory popping up throughout the week. Customers should check with local stores for shipments. Target will limit Hatchimals purchases to two per customer. The toys will be priced at $59.99, according to a Target press release. Target will also sell Hatchimal-themed gift cards, available in toy aisles, starting Dec. 11. The gift cards do not reserve Hatchimal toys.

Specific Target stores receiving Hatchimals have not been provided.

Many stores have been out for weeks. At the Polaris Toys R Us location earlier this month, about 100 people stood in line to try and nab one of the popular toys. Toys R Us has not said when they expect to receive additional Hatchimals.

Hatchimals are interactive toys that hatch from an egg. Children have to nurture the toy throughout the process to get the creatures to come out. Once the egg hatches, kids teach the Hatchimals to walk and talk.
