Southeast Columbus murder suspect considered ‘armed and dangerous’

COLUMBUS (WCMH) – A woman is dead after a report of a shooting at a southeast Columbus apartment building.

Police and medics were called to the area of Citizens Place and Refugee Road shortly before 5:30am after a report of a shooting.

The victim, 46-year-old Naika Brown was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, Brown was repeatedly arguing with the suspect Jakobe Raekwon McCall, mccall-jakobe just prior to the shooting.

A relative of Brown told NBC4’s Rick Reitzel that she had been helping several other young women struggling with human trafficking and addiction. The relative wasn’t sure if that had anything to do with her death.

Court records show McCall was arrested two years ago in North Carolina, charged with assault.

Police say McCall should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see McCall, you are asked to call 911. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
