CINCINNATI (WCMH) — A baby hippoptamus born 6 weeks early at the Cincinnati Zoo has been trying to stand on her own, and is growing stronger every day.

The zoo said the hippo was doing well in the pool Sunday morning, trying to stand.

She is still struggling with bottle feeding but has started to suckle a bit, the zoo said. She is still well below the average weight for a calf her age. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
