The sheriff’s office said the body was found in a partially submerged recycling bin. Initially, investigators thought it was the body of a juvenile, but further investigation at the Franklin County Coroner’s Office have determined that the body is that of a woman with a smaller stature.

The sheriff’s office identified the woman as 22-year-old Gabriel Ann Hinojosa, who had been reported missing last Sunday, Feb. 19.

BCI is also assisting in the investigation.

Hinojosa’s family released a statement to NBC4 Saturday.

“She was working toward something great but someone took that away from her.”
