Sheriff’s office identifies woman killed in crash along I-270 in west Columbus

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — A Columbus woman has died after a 4-vehicle crash on I-270 on Thursday.

The crash happened on I-270 S between I-70 and US 40 at around 2:30pm.

According to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office, 46-year-old Jonica Zwilling of Columbus was killed as a result of the crash. Two others were injured.

The sheriff’s office says a 2006 Chevrolet Avalanche was southbound on 270 on the center lane, turned to the right, and crossed two lanes. The driver hit the back of Zwilling’s Ford Taurus. The Avalanche continued and hit a 2004 Jeep Cherokee, which was pushed in to a Ford E250 van.

The drivers of the Cherokee and the Avalanche were transported to local hospitals.

All lanes are back open. The sheriff’s office says there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.
