Inert grenades found at home in west Columbus, fire department says “no threat”

COLUMBUS (WCMH) — Columbus Fire is investigating after the discovery of two inactive grenades in a home on the west side Sunday evening.

Columbus Fire Battalion Chief Steve Martin says there is no threat associated with the discovery. He says a new owner of the foreclosed home found the items in the basement.

The person called the fire department to be safe.

The department believes the grenades were most likely training aids kept as souvenirs.
