Delaware Police detain two after one apparently overdoses, another eludes police

DELAWARE, OH (WCMH) — The Delaware Police Department says two people have been detained and taken to a local hospital after one person apparently overdosed and another eluded police in the Olentangy River.

Emergency crews were called to the area of 111 East Central Avenue of the report of and overdose around 12:51pm.

The person was given Narcan.

Police were then approached by people who said a man was face down in the water near the home.

Officers found a man in the Olentangy River. He also appeared to be on some kind of drug.

Emergency crews tried to get him out of the water and he eluded them by swimming away.

The man finally took one of the rescue ropes and was brought out of the water.

He was detained and taken to a local hospital. Police say he could face charges of inducing panic and disorderly conduct.
