Marion woman arrested for husband’s April murder

MARION, OH (WCMH) –There has been an arrest made in the murder of a 68-year-old Marion man.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office posted on its Facebook page that 63-year-old Barbra Stricklin was arrested in connection with the murder of her husband John L. Stricklin.

NBC4 spoke with the victim’s son, John M. Stricklin, who said this is what the family was waiting for.

“My father’s death did not go unanswered,” said Stricklin.

It’s been more than 100 days since John Stricklin was found dead on his neighbor porch with a gunshot wound to his back.

His son said this has been a difficult few months for the family.

“Well we’ve been pretty much in a haze just wondering when we were going to find someone that murder our father,” said Stricklin

Barbra Stricklin was his step-mother and he said the family had not heard from her since his father was killed.

“No, we have not. Myself nor my sister, who was her daughter, had received any contact from her.”

He said now his nieces and nephews will never meet the hero he looked up to his whole life.

“My father was my best friend and mentor. He served 30 years in the military and I served 29. For someone to serve our country for 30 years honorably, and worked for the State of Ohio, to be taken that way is just horrific.”

Stricklin served two tours in Vietnam with the Marine Corps and 30 years in the Army. His family now said they are only left with memories, and he hopes justice will be served for his dad.

“We’re now just getting hopefully some closure and maybe we can start our grieving process, and getting some much need answers to the reason why our father was taken from us.”

We reach out to the Marion County Sheriff officer for answers, but they declined to comment at this time.
