COLUMBUS, Ohio -- The immediate impeachment process Gov. Ted Strickland mentioned on Monday for Attorney General Marc Dann is quickly slowing.

Representatives adjourned session for the week at the statehouse, the speaker saying the situation is fraught with challenges, NBC 4's Mikaela Hunt reported.

"One of the challenges we have is there's no single investigator looking at the full scope of this matter," said Speaker Jon Husted.

The house voted on several bills, but adjourned for the week without a mention of impeachment.

"Unlike Congress, we are not set up to be an investigative body, we have a very limited staff and resources," Husted said.

Due to Ohio law, Husted suggests the attorney general must appoint an independent investigator to look over the more than five investigations into his office.

If he doesn't impeachment will be tough, Husted said.

"I know this is one of those issues where people are starving for information on how we'll proceed. I'm trying to explain the challenges," Husted said.

Some of the Central Ohioans at North Market said they don't understand why Dann is still in office.

"From my perspective, I don't know how he's working for the state of Ohio. He should do the honorable thing and step aside," said Tom Stevenson, an area resident.

"I think the governor should step in. I think that everybody is wanting him to resign and the governor is supporting all of us," said Melissa Hammond. "Dann obviously isn't looking at the greater good of the people of the state."

NBC 4 approached Dann's office on Wednesday, but was told he would not sit down for an interview and will not attend any public events this week or next.

NBC 4 also filed a public information request to see how he's 'rolling up his sleeves' as he indicated on Monday.
