COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Attorney General Marc Dann has hired an independent consultant to handle any media questions about the impeachment process or calls for his resignation.

Dann has dodged numerous requests for interviews after he admitted to an affair with a staffer, fired two top aides connected to a sexual harassment investigation and refused to resign.

The consultant is a personal acquaintance of Dann's -- Jason Standford -- who said Dann hired him so that other public information representatives won't have to answer those questions while taking time away from other work.

Standford is getting paid through Dann's campaign fund and is out of state on Thursday, unable to speak to any media on camera.

But, Dann was in Columbus on Thursday and NBC 4 wanted to talk with him.

"Is the attorney general available for an interview today?" NBC 4's Mikaela Hunt asked.

"No," said Spokesman Ted Hart.

"What is he doing today that he's not available for an interview?" Hunt asked.

"He's in a series of meetings," Hart said.

"What is he meeting on today?" Hunt asked.

"It's routine work of the office," Hart said.

Standford said that as soon as Dann is ready to talk, he will talk.

NBC 4 received records from Dann's office that show what he has been doing since last Friday.
